Concrete Sky

Concrete Sky is an unquestionably talented group of musicians based out of the Norfolk / Virginia Beach and Chesapeake cities in Virginia. This area, also known as Tidewater and Hampton Roads, has been a hotbed of music activity over the years. Artists such as Michael Jackson, Brittany Spears, Justin Timberlake, Puddle of Mudd have recorded here, some in the same studio used by Concrete Sky. Rap artist Missy Elliot is from Portsmouth, Clipse is from Virginia Beach, producers Timbaland, Pharrell and Chad Hugo (the Neptunes) are also from Virginia Beach, while producer Teddy Riley owned a recording studio there. Something in the water? Maybe.

Concrete Sky creates their own unique style of hard rock. The bands debut cd “Glow” is a diverse collection of various styles of rock and blues and seems to be more popular with the older crowd. Their follow up cd “Every Face I Spend” is more focused on hard rock / alternative stylings and more popular with the younger alternative music scene.

The live band featured two talented guitarists Bob Hembree and Mike Fellers, but bassist/producer Dan Foster brought two more local hotshot studio guitar slingers for their second release. The result is a catalog of some of the best guitar work to come down the pike since Eddie Van Halen, Zakk Wylde and “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott. Vocalist Bert Croswell is at his absolute career best with his powerful, yet melodic vocal style, most commonly compared to Scott Stapp of Creed. The live band is rounded out by drummer Chris Seranno who holds a masters degree in percussion and teaches it full time. Bob Hembree (who is heavily inspired by Jeff Beck), is the bands main songwriter. Bob is also the creator and owner of www.writersvillage.com , the largest online university for writers (no wonder he is such a great songwriter).

The band holds an incredibly strong potential for mainstream success, its amazing they haven’t been discovered yet, they are truly Hamptons Roads best kept secret. When you couple the strong songwriting and guitar talents of Bob Hembree, with the vocal prowess of Bert Croswell, killer guitar acrobatics from four of the regions best guitar players and the production skills of bassist/producer Dan Foster, you end up with some of the most exciting rock music to be released in what seems like forever.
