News Entry: It's official. Mariah Carey has joined the panel of American Idol judges.  The 42-year-old pop diva will join the panel for season 12. Her salary is expected to be somewhere around the $12 million mark, the same amount Jennifer Lopez received for her first year on the panel. But, it could be as high as 17 million , no one is saying for sure at this moment. It's the biggest recording artist any of these shows has ever had.  It was said that Simon Cowell was interested in Mariah as a mentor on the upcoming season of X Factor.  With the competition of The Voice being added to the block last year, Idol knew it had to come up with a great panel of judges.
