Academy Award Winning Actress Halle Berry Halle Berry Beautiful In White Halle Berry Halle Berry In Orange Bikini

Of mixed race but self-identified as African-American, possessed of a vulnerability, and gifted with a face ready-made for magazine covers, Halle Berry is a truly modern star. She first entered into the public arena aged seventeen when she won the Miss Teen All-American Pageant, representing the state of Ohio in 1985. Then in 1986 she was the first runner-up in the Miss USA. Pageant, after which she became a catalog model. This led to her appearance in the TV series Living Dolls (1989).

She is a performer with a deep emotional energy that she has mined for performances in such movies as Boomerang (1992), Losing Isaiah (1995), Bulworth (1998), and the X-Men series (2000 - 2006), in which she plays the sexy Storm, a mutant who has the ability to control the weather.

Her considerable acting ability has been recognized, too, with various plaudits. her lead role in the TV biopic Introducing Dorothy Dandridge (1999) earned Berry both a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award for Best Actress, for her depiction of the late actress's struggle to succeed in the racially biased industry of 1950s Hollywood. Berry then crowned this with Monster's Ball (2001), which saw her become the first African-American actress to win the Academy Award for best actress.

That she has been so readily accepted in recent years is definitely helped by her good looks. After all, she played a stripper in the action thriller The Last Boy Scout (1991), and she is remembered more for her body in Swordfish (2001) than for her dramatic contribution. Yet she is clearly in control of her image and career, enough so that she has made the transition from being a pinup to an artist in only a few years based on challenging roles after she first emerged in Jungle Fever (1991) and Strictly Business (1991).

"This moment is so much bigger than me, This moment is for Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horne, Diahann Carroll... It's for the women that stand beside me, Jada Pinkett Smith, Angela Bassett, Vivica A. Fox... and it's for every nameless, faceless woman of color that now has a chance, because the door tonight has been opened." - During her Oscar acceptance speech.

She was placed on three years probation and ordered to pay $13,500 in fines and penalties after pleading no contest on May 10, 2000 to a misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of a traffic accident. The judge also ordered the actress to perform 200 hours of community service and to make restitution as determined by the outcome of civil litigation arising from the February accident when she was driving a rented Chevrolet Blazer and ran a red light and crashed into another car on Sunset Boulevard. She left the scene of the accident before authorities arrived, suffered a gash to her head that required 20 stitches to close, and the woman (Hetal Raythatha) driving the other vehicle broke her wrist. Halle reported the accident to a police officer at the hospital where she sought treatment.
