Crystal Sarah Bowersox (born August 4, 1985) is a singer and currently a finalist on the ninth season of
American Idol.

Bowersox auditioned for American Idol in Chicago, IL. She sang "Piece of My Heart".
On March 2, Bowersox was hospitalized because of diabetes, forcing a last minute switch, with the men competing that day instead of the women, to give her extra time to recuperate. She sang the next day and impressed all of the judges.
The following week, her strong performance prompted
Simon Cowell to state, "Right now, you are the one everyone has to beat".
