CSI Miami - The Cast CSI Miami Collage Adam Rodriguez,David Caruso and Emily Procter Of CSI Miami CSI Miami David Caruso

Set in steamy South Florida, ‘CSI: Miami’ was a virtual clone of ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’. As with its predecessor, episodes followed the criminologists as they collected and analyzed the evidence found at crime scenes to determine how the crimes, mostly murders, had been committee. Horatio Caine (David Caruso), a moody former homicide detective, was the leader of the unit. Horatio had his problems with Megan Donner (Kim Delaney), a DNA specialist and former head of the unit, who had returned to work and took issue with his tendency to rely on hunches as well as the scientific evidence. Others on the team included sexy Calleigh Duquesne (Emily Procter), whose specialty was ballistics; street-smart Tim Speedle (Rory Cochrane), a former jock who could charm almost anyone; easygoing Eric Delko (Adam Rodriquez), who did most of the underwater recovery and Alexx Woods (Khandi Alexander), the brilliant young coroner whose sometimes condescending attitude could be irritating.

Many episodes covered two separate and unrelated cases, with the members of the team working to assemble the evidence and solve the crimes. There were graphic close-ups of the individual bits of evidence and the crimes, along with constantly altered reconstructions of the events as the investigators built their cases. In December Megan resigned because the work was a constant reminder of her husband’s death. The pilot for ‘CSI: Miami’ aired as a special episode of ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ in May 2002.

In the fall 2004 season premiere Speedle was shot during an investigation at a jewelry store and died. Two weeks later Ryan transferred into Horatio’s unit. In the season finale Horatio learned that his presumed dead brother, Raymond, was actually deep undercover and Raymond’s wife, Yelina Salas (Sofia Milos), moved him and their son to Brazil. That fall Natalie Boa (Eva La Rue), a new lab tech who briefly dated Eric, joined the cast. At the end of the season it was revealed that she was a mole for Internal Affairs but all of the information she passed on had only shown the lab in a positive light. During the season Ryan had to cope with vision problems after recovering from being shot in the eye with a nail gun and Horatio was dating Eric’s older sister, Marisol Delko (Alana De La Garza), who had leukemia. In May, soon after she and Horatio were married, Marisol was killed by a sniper following orders from Brazilian drug boss Antonio Riaz (Vincent Laresca).

The 2006 – 2007 season began with Horatio and Eric in Rio de Janeiro to hunt down Riaz, with no help from the local authorities. While there Horatio saw his brother killed by Riaz’s men and later killed Riaz in a knife fight. In February Eric was shot in the head while on duty and although he recovered, suffered memory loss.

Season 7 saw the usual bloody murder cases being solved and Horatio was shot, Eric Delko was imprisoned by the INS, Yelina Salas’s (Sofia Milos) life was endangered while Horatio struggled to save her.

In the season 8 season opener (2009 - 2010) Delko was found comatose and his visions appear through numerous episodes.

The show has been heavily criticized as an inaccurate image of how police solve crimes and by the Parents Television Council, due to the graphic violence, images and sexual content. The series is now in syndication.

Sela Ward was offered the role of Megan Donner but turned it down.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (2000) star William Petersen was offered the chance to produce this show, but declined.

Horatio Caine: You know what they say "You lie down with the Devil, you wake up in Hell".

Horatio Caine: We are being detoured into the land of make-believe.
