Anthony Wong is the son of a Chinese mother and British /Australian father, Frederick William Perry, whom he never knew as the man left his family when Wong was four years old.
He began his acting career when he joined ATV's training program and enrolled into The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Wong fronted a punk band (1995-2002) and his music and extreme characterizations were apparently a therapeutic method of dealing with a difficult childhood.
He was bullied for his mixed-race heritage. One would have expected such youthful fury to burn out after time, but an unforeseen development occurred: everyone in Hong Kong realized that Wong had become one of the most gifted actors in the world.
He studied tae kwon do under Mike Lambert.
He teaches the Chubbuck acting technique in Australia to actors and actresses from around the globe.
